Actuarial Assistant Manager, Asia In-Force Management

We are currently searching for talented and driven individual to join our MBPS Actuarial Function, In-Force Management as an Assistant Manager.  Established in 2012, the team has become an actuarial center of excellence, with over 200 staff and growing, along with increasing range and ownership of deliverables, specializing in Valuation, Liability and Asset Modelling, Experience Analytics, Pricing, and more.

Position Responsibilities: 

Establish appropriate management reporting to provide information on the various in force financial health measures on Persistency, Claims, Credited rates spreads, Earnings and Remittance and outlookSupport quarterly review of the in-force block with senior country leadership (and regional Head of IF Management)Investigate persistency drivers and recommend solutions to improve, focusing on financial and non-financial results (e.g. NPS).Provide claims analytics and recommend actions to manage claims optimallySupport the ongoing redetermination of non-par non-guaranteed elements, such as UL crediting rates.Ensure transparency to senior management in the tradeoffs, both long and short term, inherent in managing all non-guaranteed elements (including par) [Note – this likely does not include management of the annual par dividend recommendation process as that is a large task in and of itself that requires full-time director level management and would crowd out other initiatives. Focus here is transparency. Will depend on the country and the specific priorities]Support investigation to ensure we understand our broader contractual rightsSupport investigations related to reinsurance for the purpose of capital optimization, risk, reduction, or earnings managementSupport any cross-functional initiatives related to policy buy-out or transfer programsEnsure feedback loop of in force learnings to improve new business

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics Preferably an associate in any recognized actuarial organization (e.g. SoA, ASP)5+ years of experience in financial management of an insurance businessStrong understanding of the profit drivers of the business, with ability to dig deeper on the underlying drivers and recommend action as necessary.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to sift through large volumes of data, uncover insights, and draw informed conclusionsStrong interpersonal skills and high EQ, to engage effectively with various stakeholders horizontally and vertically, build relationships and quickly establish trustAbility to communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences. Capable of working independently with minimal guidance and developing personalized strategiesPreferably, prior knowledge and understanding of products, distribution structures, and compensation schemesAmenable to work in UP Ayala Technohub (Quezon City)Amenable to work on a hybrid set-up (3x a week onsite)
