**Description:**
The **Activities Assistant (** **Community Life Aide)** at the **Sanctuary of Holy Cross** in South Bend, IN, is part of the long-term care (LTC) team responsible for enhancing residents' quality of life through engagement in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities. Key responsibilities include assisting in planning and implementing daily activities tailored to the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of residents, especially those in long-term care settings. This role requires adapting activities to residents' individual capabilities and interests to ensure inclusivity and participation.
Additionally, Community Life Aides are expected to work closely with the Community Life Director to facilitate special events, handle transportation logistics for residents, and maintain accurate records of participation. They may also need to address behavioral or emotional changes in residents and report them to the appropriate staff. Physical assistance may be required, as aides often help with setting up events and moving equipment.
**Qualifications** typically include a high school diploma (or equivalent), previous experience working with the elderly or in LTC, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate demeanor. A chauffeur's license may be preferred for transporting residents. Physical agility and the ability to lift and move items or assist residents are also necessary for the role.
This position is vital in promoting residents' social interaction, physical activity, and overall well-being.
