#1045 Waterloo, NY, USA Pay Range 20.50-25.00 Job Description Seeking a part-time Activities Aide to join our team at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo, Ny! Must have past experience in a long-term care setting. This position requires you to be CNA certified within 6 months of hire - we offer paid CNA Trainee classes. DAY/EVE SHIFT - Evening shift, 2-3 times per week from 3p-8p. Occasional holidays required. Rotational weekend shift required: SAT 7.5 HRS , SUN 5 HRS. The Activities Aide assists in providing organized activities that are appropriate to the needs and interests of each resident, encourages their voluntary choice of activities and participation, and promotes and maintains a sense of usefulness to self and others. Maintains activity attendance charting. Education: Minimum : High school education or equivalent Preferred : College degree License/ Certifications: Certifications: (Hire date of 2/15/2018 or after) Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or become certified within 6 months of date of hire. BLS certification required through the RQI system during clinical orientation. Experience: Minimum : Experience in long term care setting Preferred : Activities experience or CNA training Other: Minimum : Demonstrate a basic knowledge about recreational activities Preferred : Knowledge of common physical and mental disorders of the long term care resident; knowledge of activities programs and interventions Customer Focus: Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Healing Environment principles of being professional, communicating effectively and attending to the environment. This is evidenced by work behavior which ensures safety, promotes dignity, respect, well being, and exemplifies healthy relationships. Population Specific Requirements: The staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by adult and geriatric patient group. Exposure Control Classification: Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues. Responsibility Summary: The Activities Aide assists in providing organized activities that are appropriate to the needs and interests of each resident, encourages their voluntary choice of activities and participation, and promotes and maintains a sense of usefulness to self and others. Prepares initial and quarterly assessments. Maintains attendance sheets. Assists with performance improvement surveys. Essential Job Functions: (Maximum of the first 5 will be included in the performance appraisal) Provides documentation/attendance records, to include completing Initial Assessments accurately and within 14-day window period; quarterly documentation is completed accurately and within the established time frames. Attendance forms and required and 1:1 visit sheets are completed accurately and timely. Provides resident programming and activities to include taking an active role in planning monthly resident activity calendar; ensuring all supplies and equipment are available and are in good working condition; maintains a neat, organized work area - all supplies and equipment stored in appropriate area; maintains and ensures resident safety at all times during planned programs. Maintains effective communication related to scheduled daily activities, changes in scheduled activities, and changes noted with residents during programs and/or mealtimes (i.e. behaviors, cognitive state, ability to feed self or requires more assist, choking, etc.).
