This position will provide accounting work for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture Finance & Budget Division through the application of independent decision making and professional judgment in all assigned areas. This position will prepare and process payments from all divisions, recharges through Central Services, expenditure corrections, and journal entries. This position will also assist the Accounts Payable Lead with aspects of record retention and will provide back-up to other financial transaction positions and process other payments in the Accounting System (SWIFT) as needed.
This position is located in St. Paul and may have the ability to telework up to 50% of the time after probation has been successfully completed.
**Minimum Qualifications**

Experience working with accounting and office procedures sufficient to compile records and explain policies or procedures to others.
Spreadsheet and database experience sufficient to maintain up to date account information, perform reconciliations, and problem solve discrepancies.
Knowledge of the Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) system, or other private or governmental accounting systems, sufficient to query and compile records and reports, and assist with preparation and maintenance of spending plans, financial status reports and budget requests
Typing speed of 45 wpm based on a 3-minute test (typing test will be sent to candidates who are invited to interview).
Communication and customer service skills sufficient to write, read and communicate effectively with vendors, internal customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
Ability to set and manage priorities under demanding deadlines.

**Preferred Qualifications**
Advanced degree or coursework in accounting, finance or business.
More than one year of experience performing accounts payable.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.
Prior experience working with SWIFT.
Ten key speed above 8,000 KPH (Keystrokes per Hour) with at least 99% accuracy based on a 3-minute test.
Ability to explain and interpret reports, policies, and procedures to a variety of people with varying backgrounds.
**Additional Requirements**
