Accounts Payable Specialist
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Washington, District of Columbia. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of financial processes, including corporate taxes and general ledger management. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of accounts payable operations and supporting overall financial compliance. Responsibilities: • Process invoices, payments, and receipts efficiently while adhering to company policies and guidelines. • Conduct detailed reconciliations for accounts payable and accounts receivable to maintain accurate financial records. • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data, ensuring timely corrections. • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger during monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. • Collaborate with various departments to streamline financial operations and maintain compliance with tax regulations. • Assist in the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, including sales tax reporting. • Monitor and manage the general ledger to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately. • Provide support for audits and financial reporting by compiling necessary documentation. • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices for tax and accounting processes. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. • Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable operations. • Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation. • Proficiency with accounting software and tools, including general ledger management. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis. • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. • Strong organizational and communication skills for effective collaboration. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently.
