Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. In this long-term contract role, you will play a crucial part in managing procurement-related payments, processing invoices, and ensuring accurate financial operations. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team within the transport industry. Responsibilities: • Process and manage check requests and purchase requisitions within the procurement system. • Handle weekly payment cycles, including processing and cutting checks as required. • Manage utility bills and multiple invoices to ensure timely and accurate payments. • Reconcile and process expense reports with attention to detail. • Maintain the accounts payable inbox, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly. • Process payments related to job expenses while tracking and managing associated grants. • Upload positive pay files to the bank using Excel spreadsheets. • Work with Great Plains (GP) software to manage accounts payable functions efficiently. • Assist with processing purchase orders tied to construction contracts and materials. Requirements • Previous experience in accounts payable, including coding invoices and check runs. • Proficiency with Great Plains (GP) software is highly preferred. • Familiarity with automated clearing house (ACH) payments and processes. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple invoices and payment cycles. • Experience in managing procurement-related payments and expense tracking. • Proficiency in Excel for financial data management and reporting. • Excellent communication skills to address internal and external inquiries. • Attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial transactions.
