Accounts Payable Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams. This is a Contract-to-permanent position within the manufacturing industry, offering an excellent opportunity to grow your career. Responsibilities: • Process supplier invoices promptly, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures. • Handle various types of accounts payable transactions, including freight, mills, operations, and outsourced processors. • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies related to costs, quantities, or missing items. • Collaborate with internal departments to address and resolve payment issues. • Review freight statements from suppliers monthly and resolve any discrepancies. • Communicate effectively with suppliers to address invoice concerns and maintain strong relationships. • Prepare month-end accrual journal entries and reconcile open receipts as part of the closing process. • Reconcile monthly freight files and ensure accurate booking of detention and deadhead entries. • Maintain organized documentation and filing systems for all accounts payable records. • Support additional projects and tasks as assigned to meet departmental goals. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related field. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook. • Strong English language skills, including reading, writing, and comprehension. • Solid mathematical abilities, including working with fractions, percentages, and ratios. • Ability to interpret and follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions. • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex assignments. • Physical ability to perform duties requiring walking, standing, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. • Familiarity with accounts payable processes, including coding invoices, ACH transactions, and check runs.
