Accounts Payable Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Wixom, Michigan. In this role, you will handle a range of accounting tasks, including invoice processing, payment management, and vendor communication, while ensuring compliance with company policies. This position is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills and a background in accounting, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: • Review and verify the accuracy of invoices, including cost calculations, quantities, discounts, and totals. • Address price discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices by coordinating with the purchasing or accounting teams. • Match invoices with supporting documents, secure necessary approvals, and process payments in alignment with company policies. • Maintain organized records of voucher packages and related documentation. • Act as a backup for check printing and disbursement when required. • Monitor payment schedules to ensure invoices are settled by their due dates. • Respond to inquiries from internal departments and external vendors regarding accounts payable matters. • Resolve vendor issues through direct communication or by escalating to the appropriate internal team. • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including assisting with financial audits. • Ensure compliance with relevant company policies, including IATF16949 and ISO14000 standards. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in accounting is preferred. • At least one year of experience in accounts payable, preferably within the automotive industry. • Familiarity with handling multiple currencies and foreign exchange transactions is a plus. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. • Prior experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous. • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. • Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced office setting.
