Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in New York, NY on a Contract-to-Permanent basis. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounts payable processes and a passion for supporting organizational financial efficiency. Responsibilities: • Process and accurately code a high volume of invoices, ensuring proper authorization and compliance. • Manage vendor setup and maintain detailed vendor records in alignment with internal controls. • Track and process payments for recurring expenses, including rent, utilities, and employee benefits. • Reconcile vendor statements and promptly address discrepancies with professionalism. • Assist in preparing weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH transactions, and wire transfers. • Ensure adherence to nonprofit funding requirements and internal approval workflows. • Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records to support audits and reporting needs. • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to provide updates on payment statuses. • Contribute to monthly closing processes by ensuring all payables are recorded correctly. • Apply accounting principles related to prepaid expenses and accruals as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably within nonprofit or mission-driven organizations. • Proficiency in accounts payable workflows and vendor management practices. • Understanding of accrual accounting and prepaid expense concepts. • Experience using accounting software such as FUND E-Z and ERP systems. • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks independently. • Excellent organizational and clear communication skills. • Familiarity with automated clearing house (ACH) and auditing procedures. • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
