Accounts Payable Specialist
Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a nonprofit organization in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This part-time, contract position (12 hours a week) offers an opportunity to manage essential accounting tasks in a collaborative environment for 2-3 months. The role requires working onsite and adhering to a consistent weekly schedule. You must be comfortable working independently to be successful in this position. Responsibilities: • Process and input invoices into the accounting system with accuracy and efficiency. • Reconcile monthly credit card statements to ensure proper tracking of expenses. • Prepare, mail, and file approved checks in a timely manner. • Organize and maintain records of paid invoices to ensure compliance and accessibility. • Handle approximately 15 bills each week, addressing any backlog of filing. • Utilize QuickBooks Online to manage financial transactions and reporting. • Print multiple checks as needed, with attention to detail and adherence to organizational protocols. • Collaborate closely with the Senior Accountant to support smooth operations. Requirements • Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role. • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or comparable accounting software. • Strong organizational skills to handle filing and record maintenance effectively. • Ability to work onsite and commit to a consistent weekly schedule. • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in invoice processing and reconciliation. • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices is a plus. • Prior experience managing credit card statement reconciliations. • Capability to print and manage checks in a multi-check environment.
