The Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration (OWCA) in Louisiana oversees the enforcement and administration of workers’ compensation laws, aiming to support early return-to-work efforts and improve workplace safety. The department manages disputed claims, conducts hearings, reviews medical treatment disputes, and investigates fraud through collaborative efforts like the GAME ON task force. The OWCA also provides OSHA consultation services to high-risk industries, while Records management maintains detailed records and reporting systems, including electronic submissions of injury reports. Additionally, OWCA conducts financial audits and ensures compliance among self-insured employers and insurance carriers. We do not process individual workers' compensation claims or issue benefit payments. We also do not help injured workers with claims management. Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: •Reviewing/Verifying information provided is calculated correctly •Ensuring all manual payments and notifications of EFT payments are mailed to clients •Communication with OSRAP to resolve any issues concerning payment remittance •Ensuring all payments and reimbursements are calculated correctly according to negotiation documentation submitted by the court system/Attorneys. •Ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual reports are submitted timely and accurately •As a team player, ensuring any special projects deemed necessary by management are done in a timely, professional manner. •Other duties as assigned Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
