The Commission receives no state General Funds. Revenue is self-generated by licensing fees, auction transaction fees, and fines. Chapter 4C Title 32 (R.S. 32:781 – 808) of the Louisiana Criminal Law and Motor Vehicle Handbook sets forth the definitions and general provisions for the regulation of the used motor vehicle industry. Currently, there are over 8000 licensees that are governed by the LUMVC, which include: used motor vehicle dealers, automotive dismantlers and parts recyclers, motor vehicle crushers, rent with the option to purchase dealers, daily rental dealers, auction dealers, used parts and accessories dealers, and salespersons. About this position: At the Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission (LUMVC), we are seeking a detail-orientedAccounting Specialist 2 to support our accounting team. This role focuses on accurate fee entry, financial software, and assisting with daily accounting tasks to ensure efficient and compliant fiscal operations. An Idea Candidate Should Possess the Following Key Competencies: + Data Entry Accuracy–Enters high volumes of information quickly and with precision + Excel Proficiency–Comfortable using spreadsheets for organizing, analyzing, and reporting data. + LearningAgility–Quickly adapt to software systems and processes. + Numerical Aptitude–Works comfortably with numbers and basic financial information. + Attention to Detail–Ensures records, transactions, and reports are accurate and complete. + RegulatoryAwareness–Understands and applies relevant agency rules and statutes. + Team Collaboration–Work effectively with the accounting team to meet daily operational needs. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Enter fees and related financial data into the agency’s accounting software with accuracy and timeliness. + Learn and effectively navigate the agency’s financial software to perform daily tasks and assist in reporting. + Process account payable transactions as assigned, ensuring compliance with agency and state guidelines. + Assist the accounting staff with routine accounting and administrative functions. + Prepare, update, and maintain accurate financial records and spreadsheets using Excel. + Verify and reconcile information to ensure accuracy in reports and records + Apply relevant agency rules, regulations, and procedures when performing tasks. + Assist with general office duties and special projects as needed to support the accounting team’s operations. + Perform other related duties as assigned Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
