Charlie Gilmur with Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team in Portland, Oregon. As part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting research and educational initiatives, this role involves managing financial transactions and ensuring compliance with accounting policies. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that advance biomedical science and support the well-being of U.S. Veterans.
Responsibilities:
• Process and manage accounts payable and receivable transactions while ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
• Generate and submit accurate invoices to funding agencies within set deadlines.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payroll and financial accounts.
• Audit purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and deposit funds into organizational bank accounts.
• Maintain organized financial records, including journals, ledgers, receipts, and invoices.
• Collaborate on month-end and year-end closing activities, as well as annual audits.
• Verify and review orders to ensure proper invoicing procedures are followed.
• Support the organization in delivering efficient and accurate financial reporting.

Requirements • 2-4 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bookkeeping, or Accounting; nonprofit experience preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting principles and familiarity with General Ledger processes.
• Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service and teamwork.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software.
• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
