Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our team in Cary, North Carolina. This is a Contract-to-permanent opportunity, offering hands-on experience in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions within a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will possess foundational accounting knowledge and demonstrate strong attention to detail while working onsite. Responsibilities: • Process and manage accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely payment. • Handle accounts receivable functions, including invoicing and communication with assigned plants. • Perform three-way matching for invoices and reconcile discrepancies. • Utilize accounting software and Excel tools, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs, for efficient data analysis. • Collaborate with team members to streamline shared services processes. • Communicate effectively with plant staff and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain financial accuracy. • Support the transition of accounting operations from plant-level to corporate-level systems. • Maintain detailed records and documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. • Assist with general accounting tasks as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the department. • Participate in working interviews and training sessions to align with organizational standards. Requirements • Associate's degree in accounting or related field; equivalent experience will be considered. • 0-3 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for candidates with 3 years of relevant experience. • Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to use formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs. • Familiarity with accounting software systems; experience with Acumatica or similar platforms is a plus. • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams and plant staff. • Ability to work independently in a quiet, focused environment. • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting. • Willingness to work onsite with some flexibility in start and end times.
