Description We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Specialist to support our local government operations in Desert Hot Springs, California. This contract position is ideal for individuals with a solid foundation in accounting practices and a keen eye for detail. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting various accounting functions. Responsibilities: • Accurately process and record cash receipts within the accounting system. • Handle bank deposits, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation. • Enter invoices and maintain organized records for smooth financial operations. • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to payments and invoicing. • Assist with occasional journal entries under supervision. • Prepare detailed and accurate documentation for all financial transactions. • Collaborate with team members to enhance efficiency in accounting processes. • Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting. • Support additional accounting tasks as required. Requirements • At least 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field. • Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Strong skills in billing functions and account reconciliation. • Familiarity with general accounting practices and procedures. • Experience with bank reconciliations and financial transaction processing. • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. • Commitment to accuracy and compliance in financial documentation.
