Accounting Specialist
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Bloomington, Minnesota. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent financial management skills, and a solid background in budgeting and reconciliations. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial operations and supporting property-related budget processes. Responsibilities: • Prepare and manage accruals, prepayments, and escrow accounts to ensure precise financial tracking. • Adjust annual budgets to align with cash flow requirements and operational constraints. • Collaborate with regional teams to handle operational budgets effectively. • Create and maintain comprehensive budget workbooks for multiple properties, including debt services and cash flow adjustments. • Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and present financial data. • Perform monthly amortization processes and investigate discrepancies to resolve issues independently. • Research and gather necessary financial information to support accurate reporting. • Ensure compliance with approved budgets while identifying and addressing variances. • Assist in reconciling accounts to maintain accuracy and accountability. • Support annual operating budget preparation and management. Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in accounting or financial management. • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions for data analysis. • Solid knowledge of accruals, amortization, and prepayment processes. • Experience in preparing and managing annual budgets, including operating and capital budgets. • Ability to work independently and proactively resolve financial discrepancies. • Excellent organizational and analytical skills. • Familiarity with property management or real estate accounting is preferred. • Effective communication skills for collaborating with regional teams and stakeholders.
