Accounting Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist for our client on a short-term contract basis in New Orleans, Louisiana. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes while supporting monthly and year-end closings. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Accounting Manager and contribute to compliance efforts, external audits, and the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and cash flow projections. Responsibilities: • Prepare and review detailed journal entries and reconciliations, including cash, payroll, and prepaid expenses. • Conduct monthly and year-end financial reporting, including balance sheet and income statement analyses. • Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial close workbook and ensure timely completion of closing processes. • Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure compliance with organizational standards. • Manage fixed asset ledgers, including depreciation schedules and monthly reconciliations. • Perform intercompany billing, transactions, and reconciliations with accuracy. • Analyze and present financial data in an actionable and comprehensible format for management. • Participate in department-wide initiatives and handle ad-hoc reporting and special projects as needed. • Support external audits by preparing schedules and interacting with auditors. • Maintain capital lease schedules and oversee monthly payment processes. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent experience. • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded company. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software systems. • Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Blackline, or similar platforms is a plus. • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. • Effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet critical deadlines. • Experience in dynamic and fast-paced environments is highly desirable.
