Accounting Project Manager - Settlement International

Financial Operations & Oversight:

Lead and oversee all activities related to multiple accounting portfolios or entire region, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, journal entries, and reconciliations.

Develop and implement balancing routines, exception reports, and financial control dashboards to track variances, anomalies, and potential discrepancies.

Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, corporate policies, and internal guidelines.

Manage and optimize month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate reporting for leadership and stakeholders.

Ensure full adherence to state, federal, and international regulatory requirements

Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard financial data integrity, prevent misstatements, and support audit readiness.

Conduct detailed financial analysis on complex transactions, identifying cost-saving opportunities, operational efficiencies, and areas for process improvement.

Lead financial risk mitigation strategies, proactively addressing systemic reconciliation discrepancies and financial reporting inconsistencies.

Enhance accounting policies, ensuring process efficiency, accuracy, and risk mitigation, while maintaining comprehensive documentation for audit compliance.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous learning.

Provide regular performance assessments, constructive feedback, and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.

Manage staffing and resource allocation to ensure adequate support for financial operations and strategic initiatives.

Collaborate with finance, operations, treasury, and legal teams to ensure financial data accuracy, reconciliation, and regulatory alignment.

Communicate key financial, operational, and compliance-related updates across departments, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.

Regulatory Compliance, Audit & Financial Controls

Ensure strict compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX, safeguarding policies, and other financial governance regulations to prevent fraud, misstatements, and regulatory breaches.

Monitor and assess changes in card scheme rules and regulatory frameworks, ensuring timely updates to settlement processes and compliance requirements.

Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audits, including SOX, regulatory, and statutory audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit inquiries and findings.

Work closely with business leaders to implement safeguarding policies, ensuring proper segregation and protection of merchant funds.

Define and track key financial performance metrics, refining reporting to ensure compliance with company goals, governance standards, and audit expectations.

Project Management, System Enhancements and Process Optimization

Lead financial system enhancements, including automation of manual reconciliation processes, improving financial reporting structures, and increasing operational efficiency.

Oversee the integration of acquisitions and new business lines into settlement accounting frameworks, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and regulatory policies.

Act as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects, ensuring seamless financial system integrations, process improvements, and operational alignment.

Manage the full project lifecycle, including scope definition, risk assessment, milestone tracking, and post-implementation reviews.

Develop, maintain, and oversee RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs, proactively addressing challenges and ensuring project success.

Ensure financial processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are documented, refined, and aligned with regulatory changes, industry best practices, and corporate policies.
