Description We are looking for an experienced and driven Accounting Manager to oversee all financial operations within our construction firm. This role offers the opportunity to manage accounting processes independently while contributing to the success of construction projects. Responsibilities:
• Manage full-cycle accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
• Track and analyze project costs through detailed job costing reports and budgeting to ensure financial efficiency.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing insights into variances and overall performance.
• Oversee client billing processes, ensuring compliance with contract terms and accuracy in retainage and invoicing.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations by preparing and filing sales tax, use tax, and other compliance-related reports.
• Monitor and forecast cash flow to maintain operational liquidity and support business needs.
• Facilitate annual audit preparation by organizing documentation and coordinating with auditors.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to optimize accounting workflows and enhance reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with project managers and other team members to align financial strategies with construction project goals. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; certification such as CPA is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of construction-specific accounting practices, including job costing and percentage-of-completion methods.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage 300 or QuickBooks, along with advanced Excel capabilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with various stakeholders and support decision-making processes.
• Familiarity with payroll processes, including certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting, is preferred.
• Experience with lien waivers, bonding requirements, and subcontractor compliance is a plus.
