Accounting Manager/Supervisor
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and optimize financial operations within our organization. Based in Hartford, Connecticut, this role involves supervising accounting staff and ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles to drive efficiency and accuracy across all financial processes. Responsibilities: • Supervise and guide accounting staff, including the Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable/Payroll Administrator, to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. • Manage key accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed assets. • Prepare and oversee grant and contract reports, ensuring compliance and accuracy. • Conduct reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, and perform variance analysis of income and expenses. • Record journal entries with proper documentation and backup. • Assist in managing data and compiling documentation for year-end financial audits and pension audits in collaboration with the Fiscal Team and Human Resources. • Oversee vendor maintenance contracts, ensuring timely renewals. • Collaborate with Human Resources to manage payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate biweekly payroll. • Support the preparation of internal financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, and purchase order approvals.
