Description About the Company A nationally recognized real estate development firm with over three decades of experience is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support its complex, multi-year development projects. The company specializes in transforming large-scale sites into vibrant mixed-use communities and is known for its entrepreneurial leadership and strategic deal-making. Position Summary The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial management of multiple real estate development projects. This includes job cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The role requires strong collaboration with project managers and development staff to ensure accurate financial tracking and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of real estate accounting, particularly in development and construction environments. Key Responsibilities + Manage job cost accounting using Yardi Voyager, ensuring accurate cost tracking and budget adherence. + Lead monthly/quarterly job cost meetings with development and finance teams. + Forecast project and entity-level cash flows, ensuring adequate funding for operations and construction. + Review and approve construction contracts, ensuring compliance with internal policies. + Support the development of annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts. + Oversee job cost accruals and ensure timely, well-documented entries. + Supervise contract and job closeouts, ensuring complete documentation. + Resolve discrepancies in job cost reports and oversee cost reallocations. + Coordinate with accountants to ensure accurate percentage-of-completion reporting. + Determine timing for capitalizing costs and initiating depreciation. + Approve vendor setups and changes in the accounting system. + Research and document accounting treatments for unique transactions. + Prepare audit schedules and year-end financial materials. Requirements Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. + 8+ years of experience in real estate development accounting. + Strong understanding of job cost accounting and construction contracts. + Experience with Yardi Voyager highly preferred. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite. + Familiarity with percentage-of-completion accounting methodology. + Prior experience managing staff and leading financial processes.
