Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and reporting for our nonprofit organization based in Honolulu, Hawaii. This contract position requires a strong leader who can manage accounting functions, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and provide valuable insights to support organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting and auditing, along with a proven ability to handle complex financial systems. Responsibilities:
• Supervise daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Ensure all financial practices comply with nonprofit regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Develop and manage budgets, analyze variances, and offer recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
• Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
• Maintain and enhance financial systems to support effective and efficient accounting processes.
• Provide oversight for billing functions and ensure timely processing of payments and receipts.
• Monitor financial risks and implement strategies to maintain the organization’s fiscal health.
• Guide the team in using accounting software systems, including Abila MIP, to streamline operations.
Requirements • A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in financial management and reporting.
• Proficiency in key accounting areas, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Expertise in preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations.
• Strong familiarity with accounting software systems, particularly Abila MIP.
• Demonstrated experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
• Solid understanding of budgeting, variance analysis, and financial planning.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
