Accounting Manager
Description An Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of an organization's accounting department. They lead a team to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with laws/regulations, and efficient accounting processes, while contributing to strategic financial planning. Preference will be given to applicants currently residing in Hawaii due to the nature of the job requirements Key Responsibilities: Spearhead Yardi Accounting Software Implementation + Lead the transition from legacy Sage systems to Yardi accounting software across the portfolio, ensuring a seamless implementation process. Oversee General Ledger and Financial Closures + Manage all general ledger functions, and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Prepare and Deliver Financial Reporting Packages + Consolidate financial statements and deliver comprehensive reporting packages to banks, lenders, investors, and other stakeholders within required timelines. Optimize Budgeting and Forecasting Processes + Oversee and refine budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support organizational financial planning and decision-making. Ensure Compliance Across Jurisdictions + Maintain adherence to GAAP standards and manage regulatory compliance requirements across multiple states and jurisdictions. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams + Work closely with asset management, property management, and leasing teams to streamline operational reporting and align financial data. Manage Lease Renewals and Escalations + Track, flag, and coordinate lease renewals and rent escalations in partnership with property management teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Act as the Primary Liaison for External Stakeholders + Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and financial institutions to support audits, compliance, and organizational goals. Lead and Develop Accounting Teams + Mentor and manage internal accounting staff and external accounting partners, fostering growth and developing expertise within the team. Requirements Qualifications: Educational Background: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred). Professional Experience: + At least 10 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in senior financial leadership within the commercial real estate sector. System Migration Expertise: + Demonstrated success in managing system migrations, with specific experience in Yardi implementation required. Real Estate Accounting Knowledge: + Comprehensive expertise in property accounting, lease abstraction, CAM reconciliations, and real estate finance. Skills and Competencies: + Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication abilities. + Proficiency in interpreting complex leases and real estate operating agreements. + Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: + Collaborative leadership style with excellent interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and alignment within the organization. Additional Consideration: + Prior experience working in legacy or family-run business environments is an advantage.
