Accounting Manager
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead and oversee accounting operations for our team in North Charleston, South Carolina. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy of financial records, supervise accounting staff, and contribute to financial planning and analysis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervisory Responsibilities: + Conduct training and onboarding for direct reports to ensure they are equipped with the skills and competence necessary to perform their duties effectively. + Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and evaluate staff performance regularly. + Hold staff accountable for performance goals and motivate them to continuously improve. + Provide regular feedback and conduct performance interventions as needed. + Manage departmental workflow, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and resolution of operational issues. + Enforce organizational policies and procedures. + Review and approve bi-weekly timecards, ensuring accuracy in timekeeping and paid time off (PTO) records. Grant Budgeting and Reporting: + Perform budgeting, chart of accounts maintenance, payables, and monthly invoicing for all specified grants. + Manage budgeting and reporting functions for grants, including monthly invoicing and reporting to the City of Charleston. + Submit quarterly and year-end reports for specified grants, maintaining compliance with deadlines and accuracy. Financial Operations: + Maintain Memorandum of Agreement files for 1099 vendors and complete annual 1099 filings. + Post monthly lease payments to the general ledger. + Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, including: + Processing and verifying invoices for accuracy and appropriate approvals. + Matching invoices with purchase orders and receipts. + Recording invoices in QuickBooks with accurate general ledger coding. + Preparing and processing electronic transfers, ACH payments, and checks. + Adding vendors to QuickBooks and maintaining organized AP files. + Reconcile agency credit card accounts monthly.
