Accounting Clerk
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for our client in Hammond, Louisiana. This short-term contract to full time position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a growing organization while advancing your career in accounting. As part of a dynamic team, you will play a key role in supporting accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and assisting with general accounting tasks. Responsibilities: • Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate filing of disbursement records for accounts payable. • Assist in accounts receivable tasks, including generating daily invoices, applying cash receipts, and following up on overdue balances. • Support general accounting operations by reconciling general ledger accounts, participating in month-end closures, and handling ad hoc projects. • Review and correct transaction documents, revising entries or initiating necessary updates to maintain accuracy. • Assign proper expenditure and accounting codes to documents, ensuring compliance with classification standards. • Prepare financial statements and reports using data from diverse sources. • Post financial data to journals, registers, and ledgers manually or electronically. • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts by tracing actions, reconstructing probable causes, and preparing correction documents as needed. • Monitor budgets and assist in making adjustments or transfers to support budgetary control. • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required. Requirements • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred. • Proficiency in data entry with a strong attention to detail. • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks is highly desirable. • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately. • Prior experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes is advantageous. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. • Entry-level candidates with a willingness to learn will be considered. • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
