Robert Half is working with a local company here in Reno, NV, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support a wide range of accounting functions. This temp-to-hire role is ideal for someone with strong process orientation and experience across multiple accounting systems. While accounts payable is a core responsibility, the role involves broader financial tasks throughout the month. The schedule for this role will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Key Responsibilities:
· Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP/AR): Process vendor invoices and payments; monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding balances.
· Invoice & Data Entry: Enter AP invoices accurately and efficiently; maintain organized records of transactions and supporting documentation.
· Purchase Orders & Invoices: Create and manage purchase orders; match invoices to POs and resolve discrepancies.
· Reconciliation & Month-End Close: Perform daily and monthly account reconciliations; assist with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
· Systems & Tools: Work with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, TimeSuite, Sage, Timberline, or Yardi; use Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, and data validation.
Skills/Experience
· Process-Oriented Thinking: Ability to follow and improve accounting workflows and procedures.
· Accounting Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience with multiple platforms and database structures.
· Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry, reconciliation, and financial documentation.
Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks (non-construction), Sage, or Yardi.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Familiarity with financial reporting and month-end close processes.
• Process-oriented mindset with the ability to follow and improve accounting procedures.
