Accounting Clerk

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs and has an immediate opportunity for an Accounting Clerk at our Cleveland, Ohio location. The Accounting Clerk will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare support for the Accounts Receivable department.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Prepare, record, verify, analyze, and report accounts receivable transactions, and post customer payments on a timely basisMaintain and reconcile accounts receivable ledger accounts, financial statements, and reportsProduce reports of accounts that are in arrears and analyses of bad debt, and prepare analyses and reconciliations of bill runs to detect fraudResearch and resolve escalated accounting inquiries develop policies and procedures for the Accounts Receivable departmentProduce and analyze Accounts Receivable reports and assist with monthly closingsPrepare account statements, reports, and other records, and review for accuracyReview, balance, and interpret computer reports and make correctionsAssist employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering accounts, procedures, and service questionsOther duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED2-4 years related experienceProficient in MS Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)Associates degree in Accounting or related discipline preferred1 year of related experience with journal entries, general ledger, month-end close preferred
