Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Galveston, Texas. In this role, you will support the auditor's office by performing essential accounting tasks with precision and efficiency. This position requires strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Responsibilities: • Perform accurate and timely data entry to ensure financial records are up-to-date. • Process invoices and verify their accuracy in accordance with established procedures. • Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to prepare and maintain financial documents and reports. • Review and reconcile discrepancies in financial data to ensure accuracy. • Uphold strict confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information. • Collaborate with other departments to support audit-related activities. • Organize and maintain accounting files and documentation for easy retrieval. • Assist in preparing reports and summaries for the auditor’s office. • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and organizational policies. • Provide general administrative support to the accounting team as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field. • Proficiency in data entry with exceptional attention to detail. • Strong knowledge of invoice processing and financial documentation. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information. • Excellent organizational and time-management skills. • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve discrepancies. • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices is preferred.
