Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a non-profit organization in Laurel, MD to bring an Accounting Assistant to their team. The Accounting Assistant provides essential support to the accounting department by performing accounting tasks with a primary focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable. This role assists with collections, billing, audits, journal entries, and various reporting needs, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive financial data. This role requires working days on site.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage invoices and maintain accurate financial documentation.
Maintain up-to-date records in applicable tracking systems.
Log incoming checks and prepare documentation to support accounts payable processes.
Prepare, mail, and file AP checks in accordance with audit requirements.
Assemble monthly deposit folders and prepare check requests as needed.
Assist with monthly close, including compiling reports, reviewing statements, and reconciling accounts.
Research and resolve discrepancies in accounts payable and receivable transactions.
Prepare monthly financial reports for review and submission.
Organize and prepare year-end financial documentation for off-site storage.
Compile program funding balance reports and summaries.
Maintain confidentiality of all financial and program data.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
