Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Columbus, Indiana. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles. You will play a key role in supporting financial operations, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining efficiency in day-to-day accounting tasks. Responsibilities: • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and efficiency. • Maintain and manage billing functions, ensuring timely invoicing and payment follow-ups. • Monitor and track cash activity, reconciling discrepancies as needed. • Utilize accounting software systems, including Great Plains, to perform daily financial operations. • Prepare and analyze financial reports to support decision-making processes. • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations. • Perform data entry and maintain organized records of financial transactions. • Assist in payroll processing through platforms such as ADP. • Support month-end and year-end closing activities by gathering and verifying financial data. • Provide administrative support to the accounting department as required. Requirements • Proficiency in accounting software systems, including Great Plains. • Experience with ADP for financial services and payroll processing. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications. • Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. • Solid understanding of billing and cash activity functions. • Excellent organizational and time-management skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. • Prior experience in accounting or a related field is strongly preferred.
