Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to manage and reconcile bank accounts, monitor sponsor notifications, and ensure accurate financial compliance. This role involves overseeing internal audits, managing grant funding, and providing financial reporting and analysis to Principal Investigators (PIs) and their teams.
Responsibilities
Manage bank accounts and reconcile incoming deposits.Monitor the generic email inbox for sponsor notifications and ensure timely follow-up.Assign appropriate GL codes to specific accounts.Investigate the source of incoming funds and follow up as needed.Independently manage a portfolio of 150–170 Internal Audits (IOs), ensuring financial compliance.Ensure that funding is fully utilized, avoiding underspending or overspending.Share financial summaries and updates with sponsors.Support billing processes tied to milestone completions.Act as the first point of contact for AI-related inquiries, explaining workflows and procedures.Deliver financial reporting and analysis services to PIs and their teams.Prepare monthly, quarterly, or annual reports for granting agencies.Conduct detailed financial analysis and develop projections across each PI’s grant portfolio.Meet with PIs and their teams to support account setup, forecasting, and issue resolution.Review funding letters and contracts for alignment with requirements and policies.Perform general accounting tasks including journal entries and account reconciliations.Liaise with granting agencies and coordinate with stakeholders to support grant activities.Support budget reviews during the grant application phase.Assist with audit processes and prepare necessary documentation.Execute assigned special projects and ad hoc tasks.Essential Skills
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures.Proven organizational and time management skills.Experience with credit card statements and allocation to specific cost centers.Understanding of debits and credits, especially in fixed assets.Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.Ability to communicate effectively with scientists in a professional manner.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 2 years’ experience in financial reporting or analysis.Strong knowledge of GAAP & grant accounting.Dealing with senior level executives, accountingUnderstanding of granting agencies’ rules and reporting requirements, preferred.Experience with SAP is an asset.Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Toronto, Ontario.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
