Description We are looking for a Tax Accountant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves managing accounting and tax compliance needs for individuals, foundations, and partnerships, ensuring accurate reporting and financial planning. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and bring expertise in general ledger maintenance, tax preparation, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and update general ledgers by recording daily transactions and preparing relevant accounting entries.
• Prepare electronic work papers and tax returns for individuals, foundations, and partnerships, analyzing and resolving tax-related matters.
• Conduct financial analyses such as tax projections, cash flow assessments, liquidity planning, and budget preparation.
• Create and manage periodic reports, including personal financial statements, private foundation financial summaries, and documentation of property expenses.
• Compile and maintain records of valuable articles and insurance policies to assist with broader financial management.
• Collaborate with other service providers to ensure seamless integration of accounting and tax services.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, staying updated on changes that may impact reporting.
• Assist in treasury and financial management activities as needed, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
• Support audits and reviews by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for managing financial data.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP.
• Familiarity with accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
