Accountant Manager Job Description

Position Summary:

The Accountant Manager ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role supports the month-end close process, prepares journal entries, analyzes financial data, and assists in maintaining compliance with internal controls and external reporting requirements. The Accountant Manager will partner closely with operations, supply chain, and corporate finance to deliver insights that support business decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing and posting journal entries.Reconcile general ledger accounts, with a focus on inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and fixed assets.Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and margins to ensure accurate product costing and reporting.Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.Maintain fixed asset schedules, manage physical inventory audits, and track capital expenditures.Support standard costing processes and analyze variances between actual and standard costs.Collaborate with plant management and operations teams to understand business drivers and cost impacts.Support the preparation of state and local tax filings, including sales and use tax reports.Generate 1099s and support compliance with IRS regulations.Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses for leadership and corporate finance teams.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.Minimum of 2-3 years in accounting or relevant financial statement preparation experience required.Demonstrated ability to lead teams and individuals, with a willingness to provide hands-on input.Strong mathematical and analytical skills.Proficient in Microsoft Excel.Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
