Job Description

We have an immediate need for an Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team.  You will support the Solutions Group business in multiple systems, including Oracle R12.  You will be responsible for booking journal entries and completing account reconciliations, as well as complying with SOX requirements by providing needed information and overseeing several SOX controls.  The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, at least 2+ years of accounting experience with manufacturing accounting in their background; strong skills in Microsoft Excel; the ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and composure; strict attention to detail; and excellent verbal and written communication techniques.

Primary Responsibilities

Position will perform general accounting duties including, but not limited to, the following:

Monthly/Quarterly Close Process:  Accountable for timely and accurate monthly and quarterly closing process including, journal entry preparation, review month-end balance sheet, run and reconcile Hyperion reports, prepare Quarterly Corporate schedules as assigned.

Perform accurate and timely balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned. 

Standardize General Accounting processes, identify best practices, and implement process improvements.

Prepare monthly payroll and time and expense entries including accruals

Monitor and investigate goods received not invoiced account for aged balances including corresponding monthly accrual journal entries to appropriately adjust account balance

Project management: Support business unit controller on various projects related to general accounting activities (e.g., onboarding acquisitions, ERP implementations, new GAAP requirements, etc.)

Partnering with the business process outsource provider to ensure they are meeting requirements and driving process improvements and standardization.

Assist in the coordination of SOX activities for assigned Division(s)/site(s) and SOX testing.

Monitor accounts handled by outside Shared Service Center including Cash, Fixed assets, Leases and Intercompany

Prepare tax reports and year-end schedules.

Culture Alignment: drive evolution of Accountability, Teamwork, and Trust across the organization and proactively link responsibilities to key OGSM strategies.  Strong demonstration of business ethics and integrity compliance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.  Accounting degree preferred.

2-4 yrs accounting experience; experience in a manufacturing company preferred.

Oracle Experience strongly preferred

Knowledge of US GAAP

Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, specifically on the job experience with Macros, Pivot Tables, V-Lookups and SumIfs preferred.

Ability to work well in a team environment

Capable of working independently with minimal guidance

Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Good Problem solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Superb organizational skills

Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and composure

Working Arrangement: Hybrid - Office & Remote, 3 days/week in office #LI-Hybrid

Additional Information

The salary range for this position will be either Accountant 1 $50k- $67k/ year or Accountant 2 60k-80k/ year, depending on experience level.
The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting.
