Oxford Life Insurance Company is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our accounting team with a focus on annuity products. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, reconciliation, and regulatory compliance related to our annuity portfolio. The ideal candidate will have prior insurance industry experience—specifically in annuities—and a strong understanding of statutory and GAAP accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting functions related to annuity products, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Ensure timely and accurate general ledger activity in accordance with statutory and GAAP accounting standards.

Analyze variances between actual results and forecasts/budgets for annuity lines of business.

Assist in the preparation of statutory filings and insurance regulatory reports (e.g., Annual Statements, Schedule D, Schedule BA).

Reconcile annuity-related financial accounts including reserves, premium revenue, commissions, and investment income.

Collaborate with actuarial and investment teams to ensure accuracy in annuity reserve calculations and investment allocations.

Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and responding to inquiries.

Participate in system upgrades and process improvement initiatives related to annuity accounting and reporting.

Stay current on NAIC regulations and annuity-related industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the life insurance or annuities industry.

Working knowledge of NAIC statutory reporting and GAAP accounting principles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Workday Financials or other ERP systems is a plus).

Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.

Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

CPA designation or progress toward CPA preferred.
