Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role will play a vital part in managing financial operations across multiple entities, including parishes, cemeteries, and publications, ensuring accuracy and consistency in reporting and workflows. Ideal candidates will bring expertise in accounting processes and a proactive approach to improving financial systems. Responsibilities: • Oversee day-to-day accounting tasks for multiple entities, including recording deposits and processing accounts payable invoices. • Manage payroll entries and postings, ensuring timely and accurate execution. • Perform month-end close procedures and prepare financial reports with narratives for leadership review. • Review financial transactions for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and implement corrective measures as needed. • Drive improvements in accounting workflows, with a focus on accounts payable automation. • Issue checks or process payments through organizational systems as required. • Serve as a communication liaison between the central office and various units, fostering strong relationships. • Support financial cleanup efforts to ensure streamlined and efficient operations. • Provide guidance on financial tools and practices to enhance consistency across entities. Requirements • Proven experience in hands-on accounting roles, with a focus on transactional cleanup and accuracy. • Familiarity with accounting practices in non-profit organizations is strongly preferred. • Proficiency in QuickBooks and general office tools, including Word and Excel. • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow through on tasks independently. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. • Dependable and proactive approach to problem-solving and workflow improvement. • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various units and stakeholders. • Previous experience in accounts payable processes and automation is highly desirable.
