Job Introduction

The Accountant, Finance plays an important role in the Magna IT Finance team. This position is responsible for all general accounting for the North America region and also supports the accounts receivable/payable processes when required. Working closely with the IT Finance Team in North America, the Accountant, Finance will ensure the financial results are complete and accurate for each month end close. 

Major Responsibilities

Create and post journal entriesPrepare bank entries and reconciliationsFixed assets accountingMaintain general and sub ledgersMonth-end closeMonitor and reconcile intercompany and other specific accountsAssist with the preparation of month-end, quarterly and year-end working papersBack up for AR invoicing process, A/P process, expense reports & payroll (salaried) entriesAssist in corporate, managerial and tax reporting requirementsOther duties as required

Knowledge and Education

Accounting degree/diploma or equivalent job experienceWorking towards a Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred but not required

Work Experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Accounting fieldStrong computer skills (Microsoft Office) with intermediate knowledge of ExcelAccounting software experience – SAP is an assetAbility to prioritize tasksEffective written and oral communication skillsResponsible, works well independently as well as in a team
