About the role:
This role, is newly created to explode the Travel Retail opportunity in Dubai & Addis Ababa airports, managing multiple local travel retail operators. The role is highly commercial and requires a deep understanding of travel retail, shopper profiles, driving footfall and penetration, creating incredible in-store experiences and ultimately conversion at the point of purchase. The role is hybrid and requires flexibility to move between strategy and execution, leading commercial negotiations, with brilliant JBPs, and customer marketing end to end. The role will also have an accountability to train, engage and inspire retailers employees at the airport. The role is based in Dubai, UAE, and will require regular travel to Ethiopia. You must have travel retail experience in spirits, or other premium categories such as perfumes, cosmetics, confectionery and proven success in leading airport growth for these categories
We advise partners and customers to maximise their revenue, margin, operational efficiency and shopper satisfaction through sophisticated category management. Its critical work to establish Diageo as the most trusted and respected supplier in Africa, recognised for their collaborative win:win approach and outstanding understanding of category, customer and shopper behaviour.
Role Responsibilities:
Lead the end to travel retail strategy creation and execution in Dubai airport
Partner and learn from Global Travel colleagues to build the right portfolio and category strategy to inspire, stop, engage and land with shoppers
Lead the commercial JBPs with 3 x travel retail partners, to 10 x the business NSV in the next 12 months – we are starting from a whitespace opportunity
Mastery of M&E to learn and evolve activity at pace to ensure great return on investment
Build a deep understanding of shoppers, cultures, etc through available airport data, and utilise these insights to create competitive advantage for Diageo and our partners
Create opportunities to engage shoppers through in-store experiences and creative promo mechanics
Create a plan for innovation to drive the growth in duty free
End to end P&L accountability, driving joint value for consumers, the partners and Diageo
Experience / skills required:
5-7 years of sales & customer marketing experience, in travel retail/duty free airport channel
Joint business planning and category experience with a CPG
Exceptional ability to build and maintain genuine relationships based on mutual trust & respect
Successful management of senior partners at all levels, resulting in strong and positive outcomes
Holistic abilities across all marketing pillars as well as a track record of leading ground-breaking business results
Being able to excel when dealing with ambiguity, complexity and working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and matrixed environment
A true passion for category development and creating triple win solutions, and driving category growth, we want to grow the category and occasions as well as get into no. 1 position in premium spirits, so a winning mentality will be key
