Account Director West Africa
Position Statement\n\nThe Account Director – West Africa shall be based in Lagos, Nigeria and will identify, manage, and grow the highest value and largest potential accounts for Hilton Worldwide in the Western and Central part of Africa. The role will look after these accounts on a local, national, and global basis where relevant. The Account Director will be developing and fostering the relationship with a portfolio of corporate accounts and transient and group revenue targets for Hilton worldwide.\nThe Account Director – West Africa role will work within the HWS Africa Team and will report to the Director of Sales, HWS Africa and Indian Ocean Island based in South Africa.  \n\n\n\nWhat will I be doing?\n\n\nPlanning Activities (20%)\n\n• Develop strategies for accounts under management.\n• Identify and evaluate business opportunities for the company.\n• Execute strategic account development plans and communicate key messages internally and externally.\n• Establish long-term business goals and annual operational plans.\n• Create and establish relevant procedures and processes.\n• Responsible for implementing strategy and activities for the sales function.\n• Quickly determine the segments within accounts with the highest potential opportunities.\n\n\nOrganizing Activities (50%)\n\n• Identify resources, oversee activities, and collaborate with key stakeholders to meet objectives and sales goals.\n• Ensure the strategic direction of the account base aligns with the company's revenue strategies.\n• Develop account plans with specific objectives and sales activities to support account strategy.\n• Build and sustain long-term relationships with key customers to drive business.\n• Manage the Corporate RFP process, ensuring proper procedures to support clients and drive business to Hilton.\n• Handle MICE client relationships, manage RFPs and group requests.\n• Keep internal and external stakeholders updated on developments.\n• Evaluate the impact of marketing initiatives on account strategies.\n• Network with sub-account handlers and global leads.\n• Strengthen relationships with key hotels and align strategies.\n• Communicate strategy, account plans, and activities regularly, alongside relevant issues, opportunities, and successes.\n• Coordinate cross-functional links across teams, departments, and functions.\n• Regularly meet with account bases within the sales territory.\n• Attend industry conferences and events.\n\n\nControlling Activities (30%)\n\n• Direct and implement controls and systems.\n• Assess performance to ensure success and make corrective actions.\n• Establish and enforce policies to improve overall operations.\n• Follow approved processes for activities and expenses for optimal financial results.\n• Maintain Hilton Best Practices to ensure accurate customer account information.\n• Keep customer information updated through Hilton’s procedures.\n• Provide accurate reports to review account performance and communicate future plans.\n• Identify new opportunities for account penetration.\n\n\nSupportive Functions In addition to essential duties, the role may include:\n\n• Regular communication with hotels to ensure productive meetings and cross-referencing customer information.\n• Attendance at sales workshops.\n• Support during sales weeks and blitzes.\n• Support joint calls for colleagues.\n• Organize familiarization trips and support hotel clients’ attendance.\n• Host WebEx calls for key hotels to support conversion.\n• Additional tasks as needed.What are we looking for?\n\n• Strong communication skills, including presentation, writing, and public speaking.\n• Good understanding of sales processes, tools, measurements, and systems.\n• Knowledge of the group, meetings, and events market, including RFP processes and pricing strategies.\n• Understanding of competition and marketing strategies.\n• Strong account management skills.\n• Ability to persuade and influence others.\n• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.\n• Ability to analyze departmental financial data demeanor.\n• Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n• University degree or equivalent experience.\n• Significant experience in customer-facing, revenue-generating roles, especially in corporate and MICE sector\n• Experience working in multi-cultural or international settings.\n• Fluency in English.\n• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce.\n• Flexibility to travel.\n• Minimum 5years of experience in international chain hotels or similar capacity.\n\n
