Description We are looking for a dedicated Accommodation Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Newark, New Jersey. This role involves supporting administrators in fulfilling approved accommodations for students, ensuring accessibility and efficiency in the process. The position requires excellent organizational skills and a commitment to providing high-quality assistance in an educational setting.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and distribute letters to students detailing their approved accommodations.
• Manage the recruitment and coordination of note-takers, including reviewing requests, training students on assistive technology, ensuring secure note transmission, and collaborating with third-party vendors.
• Organize exam arrangements for students, including scheduling, acquiring exams, administering them per accommodation requirements, and ensuring proper return and documentation.
• Facilitate access to course materials by working with publishers and vendors or converting materials into accessible formats.
• Train students on the use of assistive technologies approved as part of their accommodations.
• Maintain detailed records and input data into organizational databases with precision.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and external parties to coordinate accommodations.
• Address inquiries and provide clear guidance to students regarding accommodation processes.
• Perform additional administrative duties as assigned to support the team. Requirements • Proven experience in administrative support or a related role.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and their applications in educational settings.
• Proficiency in data entry and database management.
• Ability to collaborate with students, faculty, and external vendors.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and practices in education.
