Job Description
The accessioner will work to support a new local site for the main lab. The primary responsibilities include sorting specimens, order entry of patient requisitions, labeling specimens, and packaging them for transport to the main lab. This role is involved in pre-analytical and post-analytical processes but does not directly involve testing. It offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to grow their lab careers.
Responsibilities
+ Open specimens and pour off secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing.
+ Verify all samples have arrived, inspect for damage, remove and dispose of packaging, and move samples down the line for entry.
+ Operate multiple computer software systems, remembering which software applies to different samples.
+ Verify names on samples match requisitions.
+ Handle urine samples, blood, serum, plasma, body fluid, and unknown substances.
+ After entry into systems, create labels and label samples.
Essential Skills
+ High School Diploma (Bachelor's degree or Technical degree is nice to have).
+ Desire to move up within the lab.
+ Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
+ High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Able to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet established turnaround times.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.80 - $19.80/hr.
