Purpose of Job

To conduct risk monitoring during hot work, confined space entry activities as specified on the permit to work, based on the risk mitigations implemented and/or procedural requirement, or at a specified frequency, in order to identify potential changing process conditions.

Key Accountabilities Access Controller is responsible for signing in the appropriate space on the permit form and is required to: Familiarise himself with the emergency alarm button in the area of the equipment stipulated on the work permit. Prevent people from interfering (e.g. closing the access point, stacking equipment in front of the opening) with a safe work environment. Stop work and ensure all executors are out of the vessel if environment is deemed unsafe; and inform the permit issuer to make the required ruling if work can continue. Familiarise himself with the area emergency siren, stop work and ensure all executors are out of vessel as soon as the alarm sounds. Ensure that the confined space entry documentation is completed prior to entry and directly after exit, for each person who enters into any confined space. Ensure that the access to a confined space/s is controlled as per risk assessment and is positively barricaded or locked during periods when no work is performed. Not leave the specific work place for any reason unless they have been replaced by another competent designated access controller. Return the confined space entry documentation to the permit issuer on completion of the task or at the end of each shift. During handover inform the relieving access controller of the current conditions JOB REQUIREMENTS
