Access Control Technician 2
Job Description: Under general direction of a lead worker or supervision by departmental administrator, performs highly skilled Access Control installation and troubleshooting and maintains related records and/or documentation. Relieves manager of routine responsibilities. Provides work direction, training, and mentoring to lower classifications and/or other trade workers performing craft duties. • Adheres to all OSHA and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines; • Provides work direction, training, and mentoring to lower-level trade workers performing craft duties. • Assumes additional responsibility in the absence of manager. • Relieves manager of routine responsibilities. • Performs installation and repair of locks and locking devices. • Cuts and issues keys. • Inspects, lubricates, and adjusts locks, locking devices, and related hardware (e.g. combinates and installs cores, repairs and installs electronic locking devices; installs, adjusts, and troubleshoots door closers and operators); • Installs and assists with installation of dead bolts, cylindrical locks, mortise locks, panic hardware, and other locking devices. • Assists in or performs maintenance of office records, work orders and/or inventory. • Keeps records of keys issued. • Makes key assignments within departments and keeps records of location of all door locks and/or keys. • Completes necessary documentation for Computerized Maintenance Management Systems ( CMMS ). • Assists with and/or performs various miscellaneous repairs, maintenance, and/or other miscellaneous tasks (e.g. assists carpenter in maintaining doors and hardware; assists carpenter in estimating costs; interprets blueprints); • Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Journey level working knowledge of Locksmithing and industry standards for low voltage wiring installations; • Journey level working knowledge of electro-mechanical interaction of door hardware; • Journey level understanding of mechanical and electronic door and lock functions; • Read and write common vocabulary in sentence structure; • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; • Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems, arrange items in numerical or alphabetical order; • Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, schematic, and pictorial form; • Work independently or with others; • Willingness to foster a welcoming and respectful workforce and community • Demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand or power tools and equipment; • Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures; • Work at heights; • Lift up to 50 pounds; • 48 months verifiable related skilled experience installation and troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic locking mechanisms or equivalent related field; • Understanding of magnetics and mechanical and electronic systems functions and installation; • A written and practical test may be required; • Valid driver’s license required; • May be exposed to dirt, grease, odors, cramped conditions, extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and electrical hazards; • May be exposed to dangerous machinery; confined spaces. • An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.
