Position Summary The Academic Services & Retention Administrator plays a central role in fostering student success, persistence, and engagement across the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (MCECS) at Portland State University. Positioned within the Dean’s Office, the Academic Services & Retention Administrator is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing strategic initiatives and student-focused programs that directly impact retention and the student experience. The incumbent utilizes data to inform decisions and oversees services that support academic achievement, inclusion, and community building for undergraduate students.
Key initiatives under the Academic Services & Retention Administrator’s purview are the administration of the Undergraduate Research and Mentoring Program, design and implementation of a college-wide tutoring program, and facilitation of various training to support the success of Graduate Teaching Assistants and student group leadership, among others.
This role is a 1.0 FTE, 12-month appointment, reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Inclusive Innovation. The incumbent regularly engages with department administrators across the college as well as key campus units to support persistence. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience in higher education, student affairs, or related field Experience with event planning and delivery of student success programs Experience in data collection and analysis for decision-making Excellent oral and written communication skills Proven ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills Proficiency with standard office software such as MS Office and Google Suite applications
Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree Experience working with college students in a support capacity Experience developing budgets and program reporting Experience working in a cross-cultural or inclusive working environment

Work Days/Hours TBD Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be between $59,352 – $65,104, but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
