Description
The Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the Higher Education Center at McAllen (HECM), Texas A&M University, invites applications for a full-time, academic professional track (non-tenure) position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning August 1, 2025. Applicants will be considered for the title of Lecturer. This position is teaching-intensive (90%) and includes expectations for service (10%). It is a renewable position with opportunities for advancement, progressing from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer to Principal Lecturer.
The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality biology instruction to undergraduates. In particular, the department has needs in its two-course Introductory Biology series, upper-level courses in Integrated Human Anatomy and Physiology, and writing-intensive courses (BIOL 111, 112, 319, 320, 401, 402, 403). Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in biology or a related field. Preference will be given to those with experience teaching undergraduate-level biology and/or scientific writing courses. Additional experience with student-centered teaching approaches that promote student success and support the undergraduate teaching mission of the Department of Biology is desirable.
