The Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design is looking for a motivated individual to join a professional advising team dedicated to supporting and empowering student success. Responsibilities of the Academic Advisor include counseling students on academic programs and policies; monitoring student academic progress and assisting students in making choices and decisions that foster academic, creative and personal growth; participating in information sessions and orientations; and helping implement a range of administrative functions to support the Smucker Wagstaff Academic Programs Center (SWAPC).
You will report to the Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising.

**Responsibilities***
+ Advise assigned undergraduates, and support their academic progress and success by using developmental advising practices.
+ Guide students in goal-setting; scheduling; course selection (including for study abroad); and navigating the Stamps open curriculum and graduation requirements.
+ Provide accurate information on academic policies, procedures, resources, and programs; refer students to appropriate support services and follow up.
+ Staff daily drop-in advising for undergraduates.
+ Respond to student inquiries to Stamps advising email ( [email protected] ).
+ Assist with registration tasks and processes, such as preparing registration guidance and leading course registration information sessions and workshops
+ Manage advising-related projects and contribute to necessary academic life activities, including orientation, sophomore review, and graduation.
+ Serve as the liaison between Sophomore Review/Second Year Studio team members and the advising team; coordinate event planning and student involvement.
+ Oversee the Peer-to-Peer mentoring program, including peer mentor recruitment, training, management, and program assessment.
**Required Qualifications***
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field (art and design, education, student affairs, counseling, or liberal arts)
+ Minimum of 2+ years of experience in advising, mentoring or teaching undergraduates
+ Familiarity with current art and design practices, trends and art history
+ Desire to work with diverse constituencies of students, staff and faculty
**Modes of Work**
