The Fleet Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for:
The accurate and timely repair and maintenance of Company owned vehicles and customer vehicles, including passenger vehicles and light and medium-duty trucks
This includes but is not limited to: engine repair, gas and diesel, automatic transmission/ transaxle diagnosis and repair, manual transmission/transaxle diagnosis and repair, suspension and steering diagnosis and repair, brakes diagnosis and repair, including ABS/traction control, electrical diagnosis and repair, heating and air conditioning diagnosis and repair, engine performance diagnosis and repair.
Complete all paperwork, including, repair information on work orders, information for state and emission inspections, etc., with accuracy
Verify repairs are properly completed by re-testing repaired system to ensure proper function and road tests vehicles, as necessary, to identify concerns or validate repair.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of specialized skills, and continue to develop additional technical skills, to enable flexibility in work assignments.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent; , Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology desirable. and 3+ years applicable experience as an Automotive Technician strongly preferred
Ability to accurately repair vehicles using advanced automotive diagnostic equipment and provide technical guidance at a level normally acquired through the completion of six (6) years as an automotive technician.
National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or Manufacturer Certification as a “Master Automotive Technician”, or the equivalent knowledge and experience with the ability to attain the required certifications within 12 months of hire.
State Safety and Emissions license- as required by state location
Freon handling license for R12 and 134A refrigerant.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and the ability to operate passenger vehicles and light/medium duty trucks with automatic and manual transmissions.
Ability to pass a physical examination required by the Department of Transportation and must obtain and maintain the certificate for the duration of employment in the position.
