How you will create impact
The Market Data Program Manager will be a member of the Global Data Management and Governance team and will oversee the implementation and management of market data initiatives within the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of market data, project management, and stakeholder collaboration. Responsibilities include managing market data projects, ensuring data quality and compliance, developing and maintaining vendor relationships, and providing guidance on market data utilization. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of market data ecosystems in the insurance industry, strong vendor and stakeholder management skills, and a demonstrated ability to implement data governance and data enablement best practices.
Key Responsibilities include
+ Program Leadership:
+ Lead the enterprise Market Data Program, including vision, roadmap, and execution.
+ Partner with business leaders, data science, product, actuarial, and IT teams to identify external data needs and ensure effective integration and usage.
+ Market Data Strategy & Governance:
+ Implement/Enhance the market data strategy aligned with business priorities.
+ Establish and enforce data governance practices, including metadata management, data quality, and stewardship for market data.
+ Monitor and manage compliance with licensing and usage agreements.
+ Vendor Management:
+ Manage relationships with data providers and partner with our Procurement teams who manage negotiation of contracts, SLAs, and licensing.
+ Evaluate new data vendors, sources, and tools to enhance analytics and business insight capabilities.
+ Data Enablement & Integration:
+ Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to ensure timely and secure ingestion of market data into enterprise systems.
+ Promote effective use of market data across analytics, modeling, and operational platforms.
+ Risk, Compliance & Controls:
+ Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements for use of market data.
+ Establish controls and audit processes around market data usage and licensing.
+ Training and Support:
+ Provide training and guidance to internal teams on market data usage, best practices, tools, and technologies.
What is needed to be successful:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Management, Finance, Economics, or related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in data management, market data, and/or vendor management with 5+ in the insurance, financial services, or related industry.
+ Deep understanding of external market data relevant to P&C insurance (e.g., Verisk, CoreLogic, LexisNexis, Moody’s, etc.).
+ Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks and tools.
+ Strong vendor management and contract oversight experience.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across technical and non-technical audiences to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
+ Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate business questions into data-driven solutions.
+ Strategic thinker with ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
+ Familiarity with data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.) and data cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
+ Experience establishing a market data center of excellence or similar data capability is a plus.
+ Knowledge of regulatory considerations related to data use in insurance (e.g., NAIC, state DOI regulations), insurance industry trends, rating plans, risk models, and competitive intelligence practices is a plus.
