This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Job Purpose and Impact

The 3rd Class Power Engineer will operate boilers to generate steam for building and production processes using general knowledge and under regular guidance. In this role, you will be responsible for observing pressure, temperature and draft meters across the facility.

Pay Rate $40.40 CAD/hour

Key AccountabilitiesOperating and maintaining boiler facility and plant refrigerationEquipment and facility rounds to ensure proper and safe operation of systemUnderstand and proactively avoid environmental impact and potential risk to the businessesDirectly monitor risks associated with products, ensure HACCP/FDA requirements are met in all food and feed processes, understand food safety fundamentals and complete safety inspections and housekeeping auditsKnowledge of CFIA requirements for food manufacturingParticipate in revision or creation of operating proceduresParticipate in incident investigations and compliance auditsParticipate in conducting training or developing training materialsParticipate in pre-startup safety reviews or management of change proceduresParticipate in internal and external inspectionsUnderstanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulationsMaintaining a safe and clean work environmentOther duties as assignedQualifications

Required Qualifications: 

Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in CanadaMust be 18 years or olderMinimum 3rd class power engineering certificate (4th class with significant progress may be considered)Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodationAbility to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud, noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance noticeBasic computer skills

Prior experience in production related workFood Industry experienceExperience working with ammonia refrigeration plant and compressed air systemsExperience working with boilers and steam
