GFT is seeking a 3D Visualization Specialist to join our Transportation Business Group! This role offers the option to work remote or at one of our US locations.  Occasional travel for meetings, coordination, or presentations will be required.

What you’ll be challenged to do:
Think of it as filmmaking for infrastructure—this role transforms engineering data into cinematic-quality 3D visuals and animations that captivate stakeholders, inspire communities, and elevate public engagement.  Ideal candidates will hold a degree in a creative or technical discipline—such as animation, architecture, design, or digital media—and bring a unique blend of technical skill and cinematic storytelling. As part of GFT’s in-house visualization studio, you’ll contribute to pursuits and billable projects, producing compelling visuals for town hall meetings, community outreach, and design approvals. You’ll work within a supportive structure led by subject matter experts and a studio culture that values innovation, collaboration, and creative excellence.

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

Translate engineering designs and technical data—using CAD files, plans, sketches, and drone inputs—into immersive and emotionally resonant 3D visuals.Create photorealistic environments, still renderings, and cinematic animations using 3ds Max and V-Ray.Edit and enhance visual content using Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and other Creative Cloud tools.Support public engagement and proposal efforts with compelling visual storytelling.Collaborate with team members, project leads, and clients across transportation and infrastructure sectors.Contribute to the creative direction and growth of the visualization studio.Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) in a studio environment with strong leadership.Help cultivate a culture driven by innovation, technical excellence, and GFT’s guiding motto: “Ingenuity that shapes lives.” What you will bring to our firm: Bachelors Degree in animation, film, architecture, engineering, design, graphic art, digital media, video game design, or a related field.3–10 years in 3D visualization.Expert-level experience with 3ds Max and V-Ray; familiarity with Chaos Cosmos, Forest Pack, and RailClone.Strong skills in mid-poly workflows, hard surface modeling, cinematic animation, and environment creation. Able to build clean geometry, use tileable textures, and craft polished, mood-rich visuals.Photoshop: Proficient in photomontage, texture creation, and image editing.Video Editing: Skilled in Premiere Pro; familiarity with After Effects is a plus.AEC Awareness: Able to interpret CAD files, drone data, and engineering documents from the AEC ecosystem.Real-Time Visualization: Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, or Twinmotion for immersive experiences.Storytelling & Composition: Strong cinematic eye for composition, mood, and narrative.Commitment to Craft: Focused on quality, detail, and continuous studio growth.Team-Oriented: Strong communication skills; thrives in collaborative environments.Adaptable & Curious: Eager to explore new tools, workflows, and creative challenges.Portfolio Required: Submit a portfolio, animation reel, and/or website showcasing modeling, rendering, and animation work —including still renderings and videos— with your application. Ability to integrate traffic/environmental simulations or data from platforms like VISSIM or Synchro.Graphic/Web Design: Familiar with Adobe Illustrator and platforms like WordPress, Squarespace, or Wix.XR / VR / AR: Understanding of XR workflows, especially in Unreal Engine or Unity.Storyboarding/Sketching: Able to communicate ideas through storyboards, sketches, and simple narratives. Familiarity with tools like Wacom Cintiq is a plus.Production Tools: Experience with ShotGrid, FTrack, Monday, or other pipeline and project tracking systems.AI Tools: Comfortable using AI-enhanced visualization platforms such as Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, RunwayML, Krea, or Adobe Firefly for visual ideation.Compensation:The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $140,000.
